The Winnipeg Jets prospects are en route to Belleville, ON. for the team's first appearance in the annual Rookie Showcase, running September 6-9, featuring the Jets, Montreal Canadiens and Ottawa Senators.

On Thursday, Manitoba Moose head coach Pascal Vincent - who will man the bench for the Jets prospects in Ontario this weekend - announced that veteran camp attendee CJ Suess will serve as the team's captain, while Finnish forward Kristian Vesalainen would be an alternate. No further information was provided as to the remaining alternates.

Coach Vincent also provided an updated roster for the upcoming Rookie Showcase, as both goaltender Mikhail Berdin and forward Skyler McKenzie will not be participating as they continue to deal with injuries. Netminder Adam Carlson and forward James Phelan have been added to the squad, serving as replacements.

Although having participanted in the annual Young Stars Classic in Penticton, BC since returning to Winnipeg from Atlanta in 2011, the Jets will lace a familiar looking lineup in Belleville. Suess and Vesalainen will lead the way up front, along with 2019 first round selection Ville Heinola and Winnipegger Kamerin Nault, who spent the last week of the 2018-19 AHL regular season with the Manitoba Moose, scoring and adding an assist in his one game with the team.
