It has been an exceptionally strong run for The Rink Hockey Academy's Carson Lambos over the past two hockey seasons. On Monday morning, that hard work and determination was rewarded as the 15-year-old defenceman of Winnipeg signed a standard player contract with the Western Hockey League's Kootenay Ice.

Sometimes, winning just runs in the family. For the 100th Mastercard Memorial Cup host Regina, one does now have to look to far to see the family connections on the Regina Pats.

On Sunday evening, the Swift Current Broncos won their first Western Hockey League championship in 25 years. It took the Broncos a full six games to put away the Everett Silvertips for their third WHL championship in franchise history.
