The Western Hockey League's best Prince Albert Raiders recently added Oakville product Evan Herman to their lineup.
The Raiders signed the 16-year-old forward on Tuesday, just after receiving word from the WHL Department of Player Safety. Prince Albert's Parker Kelly received a three-game suspension for his dirty hit from behind on Brandon's Marcus Sekundiak, and the Raiders' needed a call up.
On the heels of a 13-goal, 26-point campaign for The Rink Hockey Academy this season, Prince Albert made the transaction official and invited the 5-foot-10, 150-pound winger out to Saskatchewan to skate with the team. Herman drew into the lineup for his first WHL contest on Wednesday against Lethbridge, an eventual 5-4 overtime loss.
The former 64th overall WHL Bantam Draft selection will look to stay in the Raiders' lineup Friday as the visiting Red Deer Rebels roll into town for a 7:00 PM contest with their Eastern Conference rival. Through three seasons with RHA's bantam and prep teams, Herman has 51 goals and 96 points in 94 games played.
He has also suited up for seven games for the OCN Blizzard of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League in 2018-19, where he is a point-per-game player, putting up five goals and two assists in his short MJHL stint.
