Melinda Karlsson, wife of Ottawa Senators' captain Erik Karlsson, has filed an order of protection against Monika Caryk - the fiancée of Senators' forward Mike Hoffman.

On Tuesday afternoon, an extremely difficult story emerged from Ottawa involving a long-lasting investigation surrounding criminal harassment and cyberbullying allegations involving Hoffman's longtime girlfriend and Karlsson's wife.

Monika Caryk has reportedly continually threatened the Karlsson family, beginning November 17th, 2017. The threats allegedly involved the Karlsson’s stillborn son, the pending death of Melinda Karlsson, and ultimately the wish of a career-ending injury to the Senators' best defenceman.

No criminal charges have yet been laid against Caryk, however the peace bond (similar to a restraining order) stemming from the order of protection, called for by Melinda Karlsson - and sworn for in front of Justice of the Peace Louise Logue on May 4th, 2018 - imply a potential criminal case is in the works. The bond has yet to be served to Caryk.

In late 2017 the Karlssons announced they were expecting a baby to be born in the first half of the 2018 calendar year. The baby was delivered stillborn in late March.

Melinda Karlsson informed the court that Caryk had made and/or posted online "over 1,000 negative and derogatory statements about me as a professional." Karlsson also admitted Caryk wished her child to be dead while still in pregnancy.

Erik Karlsson did not comment on this matter Tuesday, neither did Mike Hoffman. However, Hoffman has recently made it clear that he or his fiancée "are not involved in any of the accusations that have been pursued." Hoffman also made it clear that he is very much against cyberbullying.
