The Winnipeg Jets have let another defenceman walk following the 2018-19 season.

On Wednesday afternoon, the New York Rangers announced that the team had signed blueliner Joe Morrow to a Professional Tryout for the Rangers' upcoming team training camp beginning this weekend. Morrow, 26, had remained without a contract for the duration of the summer, following the expiry of his one-year, $1 million deal with Winnipeg for the 2018-19 season.

After already seeing the departure of Jacob Trouba (New York Rangers - trade), Tyler Myers (Vancouver Canucks - free agency signing) and Ben Chiarot (Montreal Canadiens - free agency signing) from the back-end of the 2018-19 squad, Winnipeg has said goodbye to another piece of defensive help for the upcoming season.

Through this PTO, Morrow will be given a chance to show his worth to the Rangers' brass, however, he is not guaranteed to earn a contract following training camp and the preseason. He definitely will see game action, and will do so alongside former Jets teammates Jacob Trouba and Brendan Lemieux - who were traded to New York in separate deals in 2019.

The Sherwood Park, AB. native suited up in 41 games for Winnipeg in 2018-19, collecting a goal and seven points. In 162 career NHL contests, Morrow has nine goals, 32 points and 62 penalty minutes. The Rangers host the Jets on October 3rd in the first game of the 2019-20 season.
