Stanley Cup champion Joel Edmundson will have his day with the Cup in Brandon next Monday, July 8th.

Born and raised in The Wheat City, Edmundson, 26, determined the best course of action when given 24 hours with hockey's greatest prize would be to share it with the community he grew up in and the people of the city of Brandon. “I’m excited to bring The Stanley Cup to the city to say ‘Thank you’ to those that helped me along the way and to show people that dreams do come true,” the 6-foot-4, 215-pound blueliner said in a media release.

The Stanley Cup will be on display at the UTC Pavillion at Keystone Centre for four hours from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM local time. Edmundson will be on site and fans are encouraged to bring a camera and take photos with the Cup and their local hero. Attendees will also have the option to partake in a barbecue. There is no charge for admission, however there will be set costs for the food and beverages supplied through the barbecue.

Edmundson helped the St. Louis Blues to their first Stanley Cup in 52 years this past spring. After beating the Winnipeg Jets in the opening round of the 2019 postseason, the Blues went on to take down Dallas, San Jose and eventually the Boston Bruins. Edmundson put up one goal, seven points and 10 penalty minutes in 22 playoff games.
