Kyle Bettens has been named the Manitoba Junior Hockey League's Player of the Week.

The Steinbach Pistons' rookie forward put up five points in two games this past week, and now has nine points in his last four contests. Following a two-goal, three-point outing against the Winnipeg Blues in late January, Bettens scored once and added two assists in Steinbach's 5-4 victory over Dauphin on Friday, before adding another goal and assist the following day in Winkler, during the Pistons' 5-0 rout of the Flyers.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound centreman currently has eight goals and 22 points for Steinbach in 29 regular season games. The 17-year-old Winnipeg native has already played in the CJHL Top Prospects Game for Team West in January. Bettens - who put up 40 goals and 95 points in 48 games with Midget AAA with the Winnipeg Wild in 2017-18 - has committed to Bemidji State University for the 2020-21 season.

Bettens beat out Swan Valley's netminder Merek Pipes and VIrden's Kolten Kanaski for the weekly honour. Bettens and the Steinbach Pistons are back in action Wednesday evening, as the visiting Neepawa Natives roll into town for a 7:30 P.M. showdown.
