20-year-old forward of the Steinbach Pistons, Brendan Martin has been awarded the Manitoba Junior Hockey League's Player of the Week. 

This distinction for the week ending on January 21st comes after the Pistons' forward put up a goal and five points in three games for Steinbach, in which his team went 3-0, adding to their impressive month of January (6-1). 

The 5-foot-10, 185-pound Thunder Bay, ON. product picked up two assists on both Friday and Saturday games against OCN and Wayway, before scoring a goal on Sunday, to wrap up a very productive three-straight days of hockey. 

Martin has 26 goals, 51 points and 76 penalty minutes in just 44 games for Steinbach this season, while playing an effective role on special teams. He has seven power play goals and three shorthanded markers, while sitting second in the league in goals and fourth in points. The Virden Oil Capitals visit Martin and the Pistons Wednesday evening.
