Halle Edwards of Starbuck has been awarded the Manitoba Female Midget Hockey League's Player of the Week award for the first week of November.
On the heels of a two-goal, three-point performance for Central Plains in regulation on Saturday, Edwards put up the only goal of the shootout, sealing the victory for her Capitals teammates, 5-4. The following day, the 5-foot-8, grade 12 student repeated her performance, once again securing the win for Head Coach Ferdi Nelissen and the Central Plains in a shootout over the Westman Wildcats, 4-3.
Through seven games of the 2018-19 season schedule, Edwards leads the Capitals with four goals and eight points, while averaging over one point-per-game so far. Last season, the University of Manitoba Bisons commit put up 13 goals, 28 points and 37 penalty minutes in 32 games for Central Plains. Over her 70-game MFMHL career, the 17-year-old has 21 goals and 52 points.
Currently sitting in fifth place with 10 points on a 5-2-0 record, the Capitals will look to keep the good times rolling as the Eastman Selects and the Winnipeg Ice visit Central Plains on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
