After winning the Chevrolet Good Deeds Cup in late February of 2018, The Pas Huskies peewee team spent the past four days travelling to and from Toronto, with many enjoyable stops in between.
On top of the $15,000 that was donated to Oscar's Place - a homeless shelter in The Pas that the Huskies volunteered at earlier in the 2017-18 season - through Chevrolet and the Good Deeds Cup, the re-done arena in The Pas, and a visit with the Good Deeds Cup, the peewee team from Manitoba's north was treated to a trip to Toronto, ON. for a weekend of hockey and fun, sponsored by the Rotary Club of The Pas and Great North GM.
The team headed southeast on Wednesday, August 22nd, and enjoyed some team bonding hotel pool time, a guided tour through the Chevrolet plant, a quick pose-down along Legends Row outside of the Toronto Maple Leafs' newly re-named Scotiabank Arena, a tour of the Toronto Raptors practice facility, a live musical performance at Yonge-Dundas Square, a tour of the Sportsnet studio, and numerous stops at popular downtown restaurants within The 6ix including 'Wayne Gretzky's'.
On top of all those tourist attractions, the Huskies had a chance to get to know Hockey Night in Canada's Ron MacLean, tour through the private archives of the Hockey Hall of Fame, take photos with the Stanley Cup, attend a Toronto Blue Jays baseball game at Rogers Centre, and even spend time taking part in an on-ice skills session with current Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner and four-time Canadian gold medalist Caroline Ouellette.
The Pas Huskies left Toronto on Saturday after a much deserved four-day binge following their successful nomination as champions of the 2018 Chevrolet Good Deeds Cup. The Huskies will look to defend their title during the 2018-19 hockey season. What could they possibly still have up their sleeve?
