The Manitoba Moose have agreed to terms with free agent forward Tye McGinn on a one-year American Hockey League contract.
Now 28, McGinn is set to begin the 2018-19 season with the Moose - his eight professional team in the past seven seasons. Formerly a fourth round selection of the Philadelphia Flyers, McGinn has since spent time with the Flyers, Sharks, Coyotes and Lightning of the NHL, as well as the Adirondack Phantoms, Syracuse Crunch and Tucson Roadrunners in the minors.
In 89 regular season NHL contests, the 6-foot-2, 205-pound forward has nine goals, 17 points and 44 penalty minutes. In 311 regular season AHL games, McGinn has collected 86 goals, 165 points and 302 penalty minutes.
The Fergus, ON. native is the younger brother of current Florida Panther Jamie McGinn and the older brother of Carolina Hurricane Brock McGinn. Tye McGinn has twice hit the 20-goal mark in the AHL, first in 2013-14, and then again in 2015-16. In 55 AHL games split between Syracuse and Tucson in 2018-19, McGinn put up 10 goals, 23 points and 72 penalty minutes.
The Manitoba Moose open the 2018-19 hockey season in Iowa for a two-game showdown with the Wild on October 5th and 7th, before hosting their regular season home opener from Bell MTS Place on Friday, October 12th when they host the Belleville Senators.
