The Manitoba Moose have locked up another young defensive piece for the 2019-20 hockey season.

Late last week it was announced that Manitoba had signed blueliner Charles-David Beaudoin to a fresh one-year American Hockey League contract. As per club policy, the exact terms of the deal were not released to the public. The 25-year-old has spent the past two seasons in the AHL, beginning with six games for the Binghamton Senators in 2016-17, before playing both 2017-18 and 2018-19 with the Moose.

Not known as an offensive player, Beaudoin will continue to make his money on defensive side of things, legally shutting his opponents down in Manitoba's zone in the coming season. Despite finding himself serving in a prominent role on a non-playoff team, the six-foot, 190-pounder totalled just 44 penalty minutes and a -2 rating in 57 games. He also picked up a goal and seven points to boot.

Beaudoin - a Drummondville, QB. native - played five seasons of junior hockey with his hometown Voltigeurs in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League from 2010 to 2015, before finishing off his career with a QMJHL championship with the Rimouski Oceanic. Following his time playing major junior, Beaudoin skated in 43 games for the University of Quebec-Trois-Rivieres, collecting 10 goals and 34 points in the process. He then dressed in five ECHL contests for the Tulsa Oilers prior to his stint with the AHL's Senators.
