The Canadian Women’s National Development Team has been selected.

Following a week-long camp at the Markin MacPhail Centre at WinSport's Canada Olympic Park in Calgary, the evaluators, coaches and front office staff of both the Canadian U-18 program and the Development Team chose their 23-member teams for the upcoming three-game mini series with the United States from August 14-17 in Lake Placid, NY.

89 total invitees attended the two camps this past week, including six young, Manitoban women. Five of which tried out for the National Development Team, while one skated for a spot on the Under-18 squad.

With Manitobans serving as five of the 45 attendees at the National Development Team camp, Manitoba had a significant chance to see representation on the team that had 25 forwards, 13 defencemen and seven goaltenders try out for places.

Manitoba, however, only had one potential representative for the U-18 Program in a field of 24 forwards, 14 defencemen and six goaltenders.

Of the six attendees at the National Development and U-18 camps in Calgary, four Manitobans cracked the squad (Raygan Kirk, Ashton Bell, Jalyn Elmes, Ryleigh Houston) while both Kati Tabin (National Development Team) and Kylie Lesuk (Under-18 Team) failed to make the cut.

Joining the four Manitobans in Lake Placid will be Manitoban Goaltender Consultant Gord Woodhall (Winnipeg), Team Physician Dr. Jen Hacking (Winnipeg), Therapist Karyn Fanstone (Oakbank) and Massage Therapist Kim Hutton (Winnipeg).

Representing Manitoba on the National Development Team is:

Goaltender Raygan Kirk - 5-foot-9, 145-pounds, 2001-born, Ste. Anne, MB. Robert Morris University

Defenceman Ashton Bell - 5-foot-9, 163-pounds, 1999-born, Deloraine, MB. University of Minnesota Duluth

Defenceman Jalyn Elmes - 5-foot-9, 185-pounds, 1998-born, Brandon, MB., University of Minnesota Duluth

Forward Ryleigh Houston - 5-foot-4, 138-pounds, 1998-born, Winnipeg, MB., University of Minnesota Duluth
