    On Tuesday, the Western Hockey League's Brandon Wheat Kings announced that an indoor tailgate party will be occurring at Westoba Place prior to puck drop on this Friday's WHL regular season home opener.

    The Kelly McCrimmon connection in Brandon has struck once again. On Thursday the Brandon Wheat Kings used their two selections in the Canadian Hockey League's 2018 Import Draft to select two European prospects of the Vegas Golden Knights.

After falling behind two games to zero to begin their first round Western Hockey League playoff matchup with the Medicine Hat Tigers this weekend, the Wheaties responded nicely at 'home' with a 5-3 victory Tuesday evening from Credit Union Place in Dauphin.

  • Oak Bluff's Marcus Sekundiak has been selected as the Brandon Wheat Kings' recipient of the 2017-18 Maggie Janz Scholastic Award. The award is presented annually to the player who best demonstrates a willingness to continue pursuing his education while producing on the ice at a WHL level.

    Ty Thorpe of Brandon, Manitoba was selected in last week's United States Hockey League Draft. Thorpe - a 5-foot-11, 165-pound forward out of Winnipeg's The Rink Hockey Academy, was chosen in the eighth round, 14th overall by the Fargo Force.
