The 2018-19 American Hockey League season is almost upon us. With NHL training camps opening in a few short days, AHL teams will soon be hand delivered players from the big leagues ready to make a difference in the minor league system.
In advance of these professional tryouts, the Manitoba Moose have released information regarding their 2018-19 regular season promotional schedule. Of the 38 upcoming home dates at Winnipeg's Bell MTS Place, more than half of those contests will be highlighted by either a giveaway, a special theme, a unique jersey or a local calling/awareness raiser.
Giveaways include light-up thundersticks for the Moose home-opener on October 12th, snow globes on December 22nd, mini bobbleheads on January 19th and April 6th, and hockey cards on March 17th.
There will be seven 'awareness days' during the 2018-19 campaign, including Pride Day on October 21st, Share the Warmth Day on November 3rd, Hockey Fights Cancer Day on November 24th, the Teddy Bear Toss on December 15th, Shutout Hunger Day on December 31st, This is Hockey Day February 17th, and Autism Awareness Night on March 9th.
The Moose will wear different home jerseys on four occasions, each highlighting various themes/initiatives. Retro Jersey Night will be on November 10th, A Military Appreciation Night jersey will be worn on January 12th, Polar Bear jerseys will be sported on February 10th, while Autism Awareness sweaters will be fully on display for Manitoba's game on March 9th.
The nine theme nights on this season's schedule include Video Game Night on November 3rd, the Holiday Game on December 22nd, New Year's Eve Day on December 31st, Military Appreciation Night on January 12th, Grassroots Hockey Day on January 19th, Star Wars Day on January 20th, Multicultural Night on February 9th, Superhero Day on February 18th, and Country Music Day on April 6th.
